Celebrate Today the
International Day of Families!

This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the International Year of the Family, and today, May 15, 2014 has been designated by the United Nations as the International Day of the Family. To commemorate this day, celebrations will be held throughout the world including at the United Nations.

We would encourage you to take one or more of the following five actions to personally celebrate, promote and protect the family today!

Sign our “I Stand for the Family” international petition online if you have not already done so. You can also send a link to the petition to others and encourage them to sign it online as well. Our goal is to get 10,000 signatures in every country of the world and in each state of the United States. Click here to sign the petition online.

Watch and then share this short video clip that we showed at the UN in March called “Voices for Motherhood and the Family” Click here to see it.

Watch our popular UN presentation on the irreplaceable role of the family in society by clicking here, and then share it with others.

Watch one or more of our lectures from our series “The Family As the Answer to World Problems” by clicking on one of the links below:

Lecture I: “Mainstreaming the Family in the Sustainable Development Goals” by Ignacio Socias, Director General of the International Institute for Family Research/The Family Watch

Lecture II: “Family Capital – The Key to International Development” by Susan Roylance, Author of “The Family and the MDGs: Using Family Capital to Achieve the Millennium Development Goals”

Lecture III: “The Family as the Answer to Poverty” by Cindy Packard, founder of Care for Life, the developers of the Family Preservation Program

Take time to reflect on what your family means to you and do something special to honor your family.
We invite you to join with our Family Watch team and our members in over 170 countries in celebrating and promoting the family as the fundamental unit of society.

Sincerely,

Sharon Slater
